Canaries centre back delights children with surprise visit

The centre back, who joined the Canaries last year, showed the youngsters some techniques and answered all their burning questions during the visit, as well as posing for photographs and signing autographs.

There are 56 children at this week's summer school, and Zimmermann's surprise appearance gave the experience that wow factor.

He said: 'I would have loved to have done things like back in Germany but we didn't have those appearance opportunities back there.

'It's nice to sometimes take a step back from what you are doing every day and have these kinds of things to do.

'It makes you realise what a privileged position we are in. It just takes some words and a couple of autographs to put a smile on their faces.'
