Local Childline intern Ruth Spurr has been rubbing shoulders with the stars at a glitzy London premiere.

The lucky 17-year-old, from Wymondham, was invited by Nickelodeon to the premiere of its latest season of hit serial drama, House of Anubis, at Freemasons' Hall in central London.

Childrens' television network Nickelodeon chose Childline as their charity partner and invited volunteers to the 'Orange carpet' event, giving them the chance to film and interview the celebrity guests.

Ruth had the chance to chat to X Factor winner Joe McElderry and Eastenders actress Samantha Womack and the Hethersett High School sixth-former said she had a great time, saying: 'It was a fantastic evening and so much fun interviewing and meeting all the famous faces, I was the envy of my classmates the next day.

'Childline means a lot to me and it does amazing work, saving children's lives everyday and not only saving, but also supporting children and young people through any problem, or anything they want to talk about.

'The premiere and celebrity auction will hopefully raise some much-needed funds to help support those children affected by abuse and neglect.'

To generate more funds for Childline, one of the UK's leading children's charity specialising in child protection, Nickelodeon is hosting an Ebay auction of signed celebrity items.

Contributions came from singer Pixie Lott, girlband Stooshe, singer-songwriter Kate Nash, X Factor winner Matt Cardle and many more.

The theme coincides with the setting of the TV show, an old English boarding school, so comedian Jack Whitehall's schoolbag and Laura Whitmore's year book have been thrown into the mix as well.

Tina McCann, the Managing Director of Nickelodeon UK said: 'It is fantastic to be able to use the launch of season two of the show to rally support for Childline, an organisation that offers such an invaluable service to young people.'

The second season of the show sees an ancient force stir within Anubis House, sending the team of teenagers on a dangerous mission to find a powerful and long-forgotten treasure.
