A woman is now in a stable condition after she was stabbed in the face, chest and neck during a serious assault in Great Yarmouth.

Detectives from Great Yarmouth CID are continuing their inquiries after the incident at Dickens Court.

Police were called to the block of flats at 11.53am following reports of a serious assault involving a number of people.

A woman and two men were taken to James Paget Hospital for treatment.

One man, who was arrested in connection with the incident, received a serious injury to his leg and remains in hospital in a stable condition.

The second man, who was also arrested in connection with the incident, was treated for injuries to his hand and discharged from the hospital. He was then taken in for questioning.

A third man, who was uninjured, was arrested at the scene in connection with the incident and has been released on police bail until Thursday, December 15.

DI Matt Dyson said: 'Whilst we are in the early stages of our investigation I would like to reassure members of the public that we are currently treating this to be an isolated incident. At this time we do not believe there is any threat to the wider public.'

The scene remains sealed off by police whilst Crime Scene Officers (CSI) forensically examine the location and enquiries continue.
