Michaela Kerr, 22, was driving between Dereham and Swaffham, near Scarning, with her boyfriend in the car on Thursday October 11 when a lorry hit her blue Peugeot.

She said: 'I was fine but my boyfriend was unconscious and was having a seizure. He had big cuts on the back of his head and was bleeding a lot.

'People ran over to help and I called 999. Fire crews had to cut him out of the car and he was airlifted to the Norfolk and Norwich Hospital.'

A black BMW car towing a caravan was also involved in the crash. The caravan had to be recovered from a ditch.

The 40 ton articulated lorry also had to be recovered, with the road closed from 11am to about 5pm.

A police spokesperson said that investigations into the accident were ongoing.

A number of lines of inquiry are being taken into account during the police investigations, including Miss Kerr's statement.

Miss Kerr added: 'We noticed the lorry was getting nearer in the 40mph zone. It hit us on the left hand side of the back of my car.

'We ended up on the opposite verge on the other side of the road.

'People ran over straight away. I called 999 and gave the phone to someone else because the people didn't have their phones with them, I was too panicked.

'My boyfriend had his head stitched up but has been discharged from hospital.

'I was checked at the hospital but it's just whiplash. We were very lucky.'

Police were called to the scene at just after 11am to help the fire and ambulance service.

Traffic was directed through Wendling while the road was blocked in both directions.

As well as the air ambulance, two ambulances, a rapid response vehicle and an ambulance officer vehicle were also called to the scene.

Police are asking anyone who witnessed the incident or anyone with dashcam footage to contact them.
