Emergency services were called to Wensum Road in Norwich in the early hours of this morning to reports of a woman in the water.
The woman, who had mental health issues, was found in the river near the Ribs of Beef pub around 5am.
Fire crews from Carrow, Sprowston and Earlham and the Great Yarmouth emergency tender and rescue boat from Norfolk's Urban Search and Rescue USAR team attended the incident.
She was manually assisted from the water and was taken to the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital.
