A woman was knocked off her bicycle in a hit and run accident while she was taking part in the Tour de Broads cycle ride.

The incident happened on Sunday at around 4.30pm in Reedham, near Pettitts Animal Adventure Park.

The woman, who is in her 30s, was riding on the road when a Silver Vauxhall Astra came along and hit her.

The cyclist was left lying in the middle of the road after the crash.

Other riders and the event organisers came to her aid and the police and ambulance service were called.

She sustained cuts and bruises and also suffered back pain.

The driver of the car drove off without stopping to check if the cyclist was ok.

Police have asked for anyone who witnessed the incident or saw the Vauxhall Astra in the area to contact them on 101.

The Tour de Broads is the region's biggest not-for-profit cycling event taking in the scenic Norfolk Broads.
