A pedestrian in her 70s was airlifted to hospital with serious head injuries after a collision with a car in Ellingham near Bungay this morning.

The Norwich-based East Anglian Air Ambulance took the woman to the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital, suffering from serious head, pelvis and chest injuries. She was then transferred to Addenbrooke's.

It happened on Yarmouth Road at 7.25am and two fire crews and the ambulance service were called to the incident, which involved a silver Volkswagen Passat. The woman was walking in the opposite direction to the car, and the collision happened outside The Olive Tree Pub

The road was blocked and re-opened just after 2.30pm.

Police are keen to hear from anyone who saw the incident or has any information about the driving manner of the vehicle and actions of the pedestrian before the collision.
