A Lowestoft woman is in hospital in a critical about stable condition tonight after she was involved in a collision with a car which killed her husband.
Pauline Wright suffered serious injuries on Monday night as she and her 74-year-old husband, David Wright, were crossing the A12 Yarmouth Road by the Foxburrow Beefeater pub and restaurant, where they had just eaten a meal with their family.
Mrs Wright, who is her in her 70s and lives in Gainsborough Drive, is in Addenbrookes' Hospital, Cambridge, where police say her condition is critical but stable.
Her husband died at the James Paget University Hospital on Monday night.
Neighbours said Mr Wright, who was blind, was a retired architect and described him as an 'absolutely wonderful man' who was 'highly intelligent'.
It is believed Mr and Mrs Wright had been crossing with their son and grandchildren following their meal at the Foxburrow.
The 27-year-old female driver of a Renault Megane which was involved in the collision was arrested and bailed on the suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
She has been bailed until April 7.
Anyone witnesses to the collision should call Sergeant Juilian Ditcham at Suffolk Police on 101.
