The death of a woman on a railway line close to a disused Norfolk station on Saturday is not being treated as suspicious.

The body was found lying next to a railway line at Forncett St Peter just after 10.30am and emergency services along with officers from British Transport Police and Norfolk Police were called to the scene where paramedics pronounced the woman dead.

A transport police spokesman said the police received a call to a woman being struck by a train, adding: 'Police attended the incident, which is being treated as non-suspicious. A file is being prepared for the coroner. The train involved was the 10.30am Norwich to London service.'

Rail passengers faced delays and cancellations while investigations were carried out.

A Greater Anglia spokesman said: 'As a result there was disruption on train services for the following three hours between 10.30am and 1.30pm.'

Services have now resumed as normal.
