A woman was arrested on suspicion of shoplifting on Tuesday afternoon, following an incident in Great Yarmouth's Gapton Hall retail park.

Police were called by staff at M&S, who reported that a suspected shoplifter had been apprehended and detained near the shop at around 1.30pm.

A woman in her 30s was then arrested and taken to Great Yarmouth PIC for further questioning, with the suspected stolen items seized by police.

A witness said they had seen police officers pulling items of clothing and food out of a large duffel bag the woman had been carrying.

Another said they saw the woman 'wrestled to the ground on the side of the road'.

The M&S store relocated to the Gapton Hall retail park in 2015 after moving from King Street in the town centre after 104 years.

It has still yet to be determined what will fill its place.
