Pauline Taylor loves the city life which Norwich can offer.

Since moving to the city from Felixstowe in 2009 to be closer to two of her daughters she has fallen in love with its caf culture and often enjoys a coffee, or even something stronger, whether it is at the Bike Shop, close to her home, off St Benedict's Street, or at the Playhouse.

And at 70 she shows no signs of slowing down, heading off at the weekend to a performance of Cinderella at the Theatre Royal with her friend.

She also works as a volunteer for Age UK Norfolk, helping to take queries from callers and putting them in touch with the charity's expert advisors.

That work started when one of the charity's welfare advisors paid her a visit after she moved into her new flat, which is part of an independent living complex and helped to explain the benefits system.

'I think Age UK are brilliant,' she said. 'When I first moved here, they automatically put me in contact with them.

'I wasn't getting any help when I arrived and they sat me down and told me I could get help with my rent.

'I just didn't know anything about it, but that extra money has helped make my life a lot easier.'

Because of that visit she was able to receive an extra 125 a week of money which she was entitled to, and the experience made her keen to get involved in helping the charity.

'I might be 70, but I'm not one of these diddly old ladies,' she added.

'Last year I started volunteering for Age UK Norfolk on Friday mornings, and I am also involved in a project being worked on to take people shopping. Not only have they helped me, but they have given me such a buzz.'
