Year-2 hairdressing students at the College of West Anglia, King's Lynn, are backing the Queen Elizabeth Hospital's Excel Appeal by offering a £10 deal for hairdressing sessions lasting up to two hours.

Customers will get full conditioning treatment, a finish of their choice, and the offer of a hand and arm massage.

Refreshments will also be served.

The event, organised by hairdressing lecturer Lisa Gallacher, is on Friday (sessions are at 10am and 1pm).

There are around 15 places still available.

Elaine Bayley, a teaching support officer at the college's Faculty of Creative Arts, said: 'We often do fundraising events but this time we thought we would donate all profits to a local charity.

'We got in touch with the hospital and they told us about the Excel Appeal, which we thought would be good to support.

'We've got capacity to give 28 people the treatment and we've had a good response so far. Hopefully we will get fully booked up and raise some money for the appeal.'

Around 20 students will take part in the event.

The Excel Appeal, which is backed by this newspaper, aims to raise £50,000 for specialist care equipment for elderly patients.

More than £30,000 has been raised so far.
