A new café that provides supported work experience, training and volunteering opportunities for people with learning disabilities will officially open its doors this week.

The café project has been created by social enterprise Leading Lives. It will provide training and work experience for people with learning disabilities as well as being a community café at Lowestoft library.

Waveney MP Peter Aldous will officially open the café in a busy part of town during a special celebratory event on Friday, March 24.

The new café is being unveiled alongside the transformation of a kitchen at their Lowestoft Community Hub into a professional catering kitchen to support people to learn all aspects of a catering working environment. People will learn how to prepare and serve food to customers alongside gaining industry recognised qualifications. Baked goods served in the café will be prepared at the Lowestoft Hub.

The café will be open Monday to Friday, from 9.30am to 3.30pm.
