Dozens of people turned out for the fun day on Saturday at the Lighthouse Inn, Walcott, for the EDP Norfolk and Lowestoft Flood Appeal.

All the money raised will go towards people in Walcott and Bacton.

It was organised by a group of six people, from the Stalham area, including Katt Sutherland, 21 from Stalham Green.

Miss Sutherland, who works as a dispenser at Mundesley Medical Centre, wanted to help because a lot of patients were affected by the tidal surge.

She said: 'It was so sad because so many lives were devastated and it was so close to Christmas. It is still a mess in Bacton and Walcott. The fun day brings the appeal back into people's minds. The level of support shows people still care.'

Despite the grey weather there was a good turn out for the daytime events, which included guess the weight of the dog and dance performances by children from Dance for Fun group in Smallburgh and students from Happisburgh Primary School.

In the evening live music was performed by local bands and singers.

One of the other organisers, Karen Clark, 43, from Sutton, described the day as fantastic.

Kerry Lester, 24, Bacton, who attended the fun day, said: 'It is a brilliant event. It is really important to support people who have lost their homes.'

The music evening raised just over £1,000 but the daytime proceeds have not yet been counted.
