Visitors to On The Water festivities in Wroxham this weekend will see a sharp contrast between old and new.
For moored alongside Norfolk Broads Direct's Fair Statesman, the company's latest luxury cruiser with all mod cons, will be the wherry yacht Norada.
The majestic boat is a special guest at the event, courtesy of the Wherry Yacht Charter Trust.
On The Water is a national programme of events organised by the British Marine Federation aimed at getting people out on the water for the first time.
Norfolk Broads Direct is leading events in Wroxham while Herbert Woods is hosting festivities at its yard in Potter Heigham.
Norfolk Broads Direct director Barbara Greasley said: 'We would love to see people who have thought about a boating holiday before but never gone on one. We will be happy to answer any questions people may have, but never dared to ask before.'
Their programme for the weekend includes special Broads Tours river trips at half normal price and dayboat hire at two hours for the price of one.
Staff will also be showing visitors around cruisers and offering short test drives.
There will be an RSPB member talking about the water birds that live on the Broads, Broads Authority navigation rangers will be offering tips on safe boat handling and the Broads Beat police team will be explaining their role.
Salhouse Broad's countryside ranger will be on hand to talk about all that Salhouse Broad has to offer and the Vintage Broadsman will be on her moorings with a fully licensed bar and light refreshments.
Other catering will include a hog roast and the locally produced Ronaldo's Ice Cream.
Mrs Greasley said: 'People will be able to put their details on special postcards and go into a draw for a £300 voucher that can be spent on any of our holidays or river trips.
'We will also be offering a 10pc discount on holidays booked over the weekend.'
At Herbert Woods, marketing manager Amanda Walker said: 'I am sure people who have not experienced boating for a while will be impressed by the comfort of modern-day cruisers.
'Our mod-cons include televisions in every cabin with DVD players, hot air heating, full-size fridges, micro-waves and granite work surfaces in the galley.'
They will also be showing people around boats, offering test-drives and addressing first-time boaters' common fears such as mooring, tying up correctly and turning round.
The yard will also be offering two hours of day boat hire for the price of one, 10-minute Canadian canoe taster sessions and trips on its Edwardian launch, Wagtail.
