Video: Tributes paid to Wymondham College student Allister Maguire Buck at scene of fatal collision in Stockton

Flowers have been attached to a lamppost on the A146, where the teenager, named locally as Allister Maguire Buck, died when he was struck by a BMW near to the junction with Raveningham Road at about 6.20pm on Saturday.

Mr Maguire Buck was on foot when the incident happened on the busy A-road near to his family home in Stockton.

The teenager was a sixth form student at Wymondham College and had previously attended Hobart High School in Loddon.

Neighbours of the family in Stockton said the small community was devastated to learn of Mr Maguire Buck's death.

They said his parents Ashley Buck and Claire Maguire, and younger sister Kate Maguire Buck, were in a state of shock following the news.

Among the messages laid at the scene, one said: 'I will never forget the great laughs we had and they way we used to wind each other up. I will miss you loads.'

Friends of the Wymondham College sixth form student have also taken to Twitter and Facebook to pay tribute.

One person wrote: 'RIP Allister, you were a friend to us all and will be missed by everyone.'

Another said: 'RIP Allister, one of the nicest, funniest and loving friends I knew. I can't bring myself to believe it.'

The rev Julie Oddy-Bates, priest in charge of the Waveney benefice, said: 'He was a well-loved young man.

'It is a tiny community and the family is a very well-known part of the church community.

'Everybody is devastated.'

Prayers were said for the family during the evening service at St Michael and All Angels in Stockton on Sunday and the church will be open from 9am until dusk today and tomorrow for people to pray and grieve.

There will also be a prayer vigil at the church next Sunday from 3pm.

A neighbour, who has asked not to be identified, said: 'It is just such a waste. I knew he was applying for university because I had a chat with him about which one he wanted to go to.

'He was a lovely bright lad and had all his future ahead of him.'

Raymond Askew, who also lives in Stockton, said: 'We are all devastated in the village.

'We will do everything we can for his parents. We are a little community and do try to look after each other if we can.'

Police and the ambulance service were called to reports that a BMW had collided with a pedestrian on the A146 at Stockton at about 6.20pm on Saturday.

Mr Maguire Buck died at the scene. The driver of the BMW suffered minor injuries.

The road was closed in both directions for several hours while police carried out their investigation and reopened at about 10pm.

Peter Sayer, who lives near to the collision site on the A146, saw the police and ambulance service arrive.

He said the stretch of road was dangerous and said he had campaigned for improvements in the past.

He called for double white lines to be installed to prevent cars overtaking near to the road junctions and a hidden dip, which he said was responsible for a number of accidents in the past.

Mr Sayer's neighbours Dave and Pat Sharp said they had also been campaigning for road improvements and would like to see speed restrictions on the A146 at Stockton.

Mr Askew, whose house overlooks the A146, said there had been six people killed on the same stretch of road in the last 20 years and hundreds of minor collisions.

He said: 'It is just a death trap. There is so much traffic going on it and going so fast. It is unbelievable.'

A Norfolk County Council spokesman said an investigation would be carried out at the site, as was the case with all fatal collisions.

Police are asking anyone who believes they may have witnessed the incident to contact the serious collision investigation team at Norfolk Constabulary on 101.
