A choir from America paid a visit to Palgrave Church today that was one of four churches in Norfolk and Suffolk that inspired the design of their place of worship in Indianapolis.
The 50-strong members of the Trinity Episcopal Church are the guest choir at Norwich Cathedral this week on their summer tour of the UK.
The group paid a visit and sang inside St Peter's Church in Palgrave, near Diss, as part of a tour of two Norfolk churches and two in Suffolk.
Design features of the churches in Palgrave, South Burlingham, Ranworth, and Ufford were used when a new parish church was being built in Indianapolis in the 1950s.
The stencilled ceiling and the asymmetrical north aisle were features at Palgrave that were copied by the American church.
Michael Messina, choirmaster of the Indianapolis church, said 'it is great to see our roots' and presented the church wardens with a drawing of their church back home.
Officials at Palgrave Church are trying to raise 165,000 to replace the church roof.
