A man in his 30s was taken to hospital with a serious head injury after hitting his head on the windscreen and being thrown from his van on the A47 Near Norwich today.

Ambulance crews attended at 1.56pm to a man who had crashed his van into the central reservation on the A47 at Easton between the A47 Dereham Road and Church Lane roundabout and Blind Lane.

An East of England Ambulance Service spokesman said: 'We were called to two crashes on the A47 within a short time of each other. One, at Honingham, between a car and a caravan at 1.57pm, was non injury.

'One a minute earlier, at 1.56pm, involved a van going into the central reservation and a man in his 30s was taken to the N&N with a possibly serious head injury.

'He was thrown from the van after hitting his head on the windscreen and was semi-conscious when we were dealing with him.'

The van caused structural damage to the central reservation and the section of road was closed and traffic diverted for about two hours while police recovered the van.
