Train services running between Norwich and London have been disrupted today due to overhead wiring problems after a tree came into contact with overhead lines.

The tree came into contact with overhead lines near to Newton Flotman resulting in problems to services between Norwich and Diss from about 9.30am.

A spokesman for National Express East Anglia said the problems resulted in a bus replacement service being operated between Norwich and Diss.

He added that the frequency of the service had to be put back from half-hourly to hourly while work was carried out on the overhead lines.

A spokesman for Network Rail said the tree has now been removed.

Normal services are now running between Norwich and Diss although there is expected to be some knock-on disruption as a result of this morning's problems.
