Two men have been charged and remanded in custody following an alleged fight in Lowestoft.

Police officers and the force helicopter were dispatched to reports of a fight in the street on Greenfield Road, shortly after 10.30am on Monday morning.

A 36-year-old man was taken to hospital for treatment before being discharged.

Two men were arrested on suspicion of affray and both were taken into custody where they were interviewed by officers in connection with the incident.

Charlie Thomson, 23, of no fixed abode, has been charged with affray and possession of an offensive weapon in a public place.

Ibrar Mahmood, 36, of London Road South, Lowestoft, was charged with affray, two counts of possession of a knife blade/ sharp pointed article in a public place and assault.

Both were detained for a virtual court hearing before Norwich magistrates this morning (Tuesday) and have now been remanded in custody ahead of their next appearance at Ipswich Crown Court on January, 5.
