Twelve people have been arrested on suspicion of drug offences following early morning raids on houses in Littleport and Ely this morning.More than 150 police officers and staff were involved in the the operation which targeted 10 properties in East Cambridgeshire at 4am today.

Twelve people have been arrested on suspicion of drug offences following early morning raids on houses in Littleport and Ely this morning.

More than 150 police officers and staff were involved in the the operation which targeted 10 properties in East Cambridgeshire at 4am today.

The operation followed a 10-week period of intelligence gathering by Cambridgeshire Police aimed at ridding the area of class A drugs including crack cocaine and heroin.

Det Chief Insp Gary Ridgway said: “The raids today and and the resources we have put into them demonstrate how seriously we take the use and supply of drugs in the county.”

The 12 men and women whose ages range from 25 to 39, are all being questioned at Parkside Police Station, in Cambridge.
