A Trowse councillor is training and fundraising ahead of the London Marathon.
Kerry Prentice, acting chair of the parish council, will be running on behalf of the Stroke Association and needs to raise £2,000 for the cause.
Mrs Prentice has been closely acquainted with stroke survivors since leaving school and working as a physiotherapy assistant at the old Norfolk and Norwich hospital in St Stephen's Road.
She said: 'I saw the awful state some patients were left in, some didn't or couldn't go home but I also saw the amazing recovering some patients had. However, it became far to real in the last few years, friends have suffered strokes.'
As part of her fundraising, Mrs Prentice has organised a charity afternoon at The White Horse Pub in Trowse from 3pm-7pm on Sunday, March 4. There will be a raffle and games as well as live performance from The Misfit Collective.
