Tributes pour in for Norwich City ‘superfan’ who has died

Michelle Dack, who had worked as a Golden Goal seller at Carrow Road, passed away on Tuesday after a battle with a rare form of cancer.

The 52-year-old, from Norwich, had been to 908 consecutive Norwich City matches and has been described as a 'superfan' by the club.

Her partner Ian Mitton, a Norwich City season ticket holder, said he was a 'broken man' as he tweeted the news of Michelle's death.

He wrote: 'I am a broken man. In the early hours of this morning my beloved Mrs M passed away. To say I'm overwhelmingly heartbroken would be an understatement. She was my rock, my love, my best friend and I shall miss her terribly. Sleep well now Michelle. Love you forever.'

Since the message was posted hundreds of people have been in contact with Ian to offer their condolences.

Norwich City midfielder James Maddison said: 'So sorry to see this Ian. If there's anything I can do let me know.. tickets? Signed boots? Completely up to you. RIP Michelle.'

Former City keeper Bryan Gunn wrote: 'Such terrible news, my thoughts are with you, family & friends at this very sad time!! #OTBC.'

And the Norwich City Football Club tweeted from its official account: 'Everyone at Norwich City is deeply saddened to hear of your loss, Ian. Michelle was a real superfan, and summed up what supporting City is all about. Our thoughts are with you and everyone who knew and loved her.'

Television presenter Simon Thomas, who recently lost his wife to cancer, also offered his condolences to Ian.

'I just want to say I am so so sorry to hear about your wife. This is beyond heartbreaking and a pain of loss that right now you can't even begin to comprehend. All I can say is hold on and God Bless you,' he wrote.

Messages have poured in from football fans across the country. They included;

• Pete Free: 'She was such a happy smiley lady at Aviva, she will be sadly missed. Terribly sad news Ian, my condolences.'

• @MaxAdams7: 'So sorry to hear about your loss. Safe to say we brought hundreds of golden goal tickets off her in the many years she saw us in the N&P boxes! Always stopped for a chat, always smiling, a true credit to everyone associated with the yellow and green. Always #OTBC.'

In responses to all the messages Ian tweeted: 'After a night of broken sleep, woke to see a list of notifications as long as a very long thing!
