The football season has kicked off again and Vauxhall retailer Thurlow Nunn is delighted to announce its continuing support of the Eastern Counties Football League.

The league, which has been running since 1935 and is currently known as the Thurlow Nunn League, invites clubs from Norfolk, Suffolk, northern Essex and eastern Cambridgeshire to compete in the premier, first and various youth league divisions.

Simon Grylls, regional director at Thurlow Nunn, said: 'This is the second year we have sponsored the league and we're extremely proud to continue to support such a long-running one.

'Vauxhall is a key player in the football world as proud sponsors of Home Nations Football as well as being involved in the FA Vauxhall Youth Programme.

'As a Vauxhall retailer it made sense to us here at Thurlow Nunn to support the beautiful game on a local level too. It's great to give local communities a reason to come together for a kick-about and there's nothing wrong with a little bit of healthy competition.

'Equally, with so many of our sites located in towns represented within the league, this is a great fit for our business.'

Last year's Premier Division winners Dereham Town have now been promoted to the Ryman League Division One.

The 2013-14 Thurlow Nunn League season is under way and next month will see the Dereham Town reserve team competing for a title.

Mr Grylls added: 'We wish Dereham Town the best of luck for the new season and hope to see them lifting another trophy next year!'

And it's not just the Eastern Counties league that Thurlow Nunn supports – for the second year running the retailer is demonstrating its commitment to grass roots football in the area by continuing to support youth team Heigham Park Rangers FC.

As part of Vauxhall's wider support for youth football, Thurlow Nunn has provided the team with a new strip ensuring the players are fully kitted out for the season.

Mr Grylls said: 'Supplying Heigham Park Rangers FC with a brand new kit highlights the importance of supporting the game from the bottom at grass roots level as well as throughout the league, right to the top international level.

'In addition to providing the team with new kit, our Norwich staff are working closely with the team, giving their time and ideas to support the club.'
