Clive Atthowe of automotive diagnostic specialists Clive Atthowe Tuning in Salhouse Road, Norwich, was second in this year's Top Technician Competition 2011.
Linda Stansfield, chief operating officer of the Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI) who announced the winners at the NEC car and commercial show, said: 'These technicians are absolutely at the top of their game. They started the journey last year with more than 1,000 entrants, to being at the prize giving today. They have gone through online tests, the semi-finals and the final earlier this year at the Honda Institute.
'Their technical skills have been tested to the limit and they emerged as the best in the industry.'
