Norfolk police warned people to take care on the county's roads today, but said, so far, fears of a spate of crashes in frosty weather had not materialised.

The force took to social media website Twitter to warn drivers of the 'first frost of the season' and to take extra care, especially on untreated roads.

Norfolk County Council also sent out its gritting trucks as temperatures dipped and a spokesman for Norfolk police said this morning that, fortunately, there had not been any serious crashes reported.

Wintry weather on Saturday caused some problems across the county.

The A1064 Main Road in Filby was closed in both directions at the Pound Lane junction for a spell, because of flooding.

Part of a tree fell on to cars in a hotel car park in Blakeney.

The large section of branch smashed the rear windscreen of a white VW Golf and badly damaged another vehicle parked outside the Blakeney Hotel in The Quay.

No one was injured and the area was cordoned off.

And a fallen tree cut electricity in Saham Toney, near Watton.

One witness said the tree had fallen near the village community centre, blocking a road and taking a telegraph pole down with it.

The tree fell in strong winds at about 2pm.

And UK Power Networks said more than 500 homes in the Blo Norton area, near Diss, were without power, after trees fell on overhead lines at about 7.15am.

The power cut affected homes in Blo Norton, Garboldisham, Thelnetham and Hinderclay.
