The annual blessing of the nets and herring supper takes place in Great Yarmouth Minster on Sunday, October 15 at 6pm.
The minster will be decorated with fishing nets and youngsters from St George's Primary School and Great Yarmouth Primary Academy will be singing.
There will also be readings of poems and historical information about the herring season in Great Yarmouth.
Following the service there will be the traditional herring supper for which tickets are available from the minster café or by calling 01493 858862. It is important to pre-book for the supper.
Before the Reformation the town's fishing nets were blessed and the safety of the fishermen was prayed for. This service was recreated in St Nicholas' Church in the late Victorian times, fell away for several years and was recreated again in 2010.
