Two town councils are hoping to tap into a fund of more than £300,000 to pay for new play and outdoor sports equipment.

Thetford and Watton Town Councils each agreed to make bids for more than £40,000 between them from the Breckland Outdoor Sport and Play Fund at their respective full council meetings last night.

Thetford Town Council is looking for £31,960 to help pay for an upgrade to a play area on the Redcastle Furze Estate, and for work on a play area on Harriet Martineau Close. The two areas were recently handed over to the town council from Breckland Council.

Watton Town Council agreed to bid for £11,040 from the fund, to pay for adult exercise equipment.

The town council want to install the equipment at a site at Jubilee Gardens, subject to planning permission. If planning permission is unsuccessful, they plan to install the equipment at a site in Lovell Gardens.
