He's got a hairy coat and a glossy nose and is fast becoming a Norfolk celebrity.

For Murphy the dog has got his own internet blog which has just celebrated its 1000th visitor.

The 12-year-old labrador-collie cross - also known as Mr Murphy or the Murphmeister - has been building up a loyal following since April when his website k9life.blogspot.com was launched.

Canine and human fans from across the globe have been reading his blog - or personal diary - "It's a dog's life", which features Murphy's view of the world together with that of his brother, a Tibetan Terrier called Oz.

There are regular updates, the topics including 'What we did for our holidays' and 'Separation Anxiety', a common problem when dogs have to be left outside shops or toilets for brief periods while their owners pop inside. And there are loads of photos of the duo.

Roger Peacock and his wife Catherine Bramwell inherited Murphy when they moved to Eccles, near Attleborough, three years ago and found he came with the house.

Mr Peacock said: "My late father's Old English Sheepdog used to publish a printed newsletter and Murph is keeping the tradition but with new technology.

"Blogs are becoming all the fashion for everybody from chief constables to members of the public, and now a local Norfolk labrador-collie cross has started his own.

"He has followers in Canada and Australia, and even gets messages from a female collie called Cara in Sydney. He and Oz give a simple canine view of the world which we bipeds often make too complicated.

"They can be very wise!"
