Some of the stars of the Norfolk arts scene were celebrated for their achievements at a glittering awards ceremony.
The 2013 Norfolk Arts Awards took place at Norwich Cathedral's Hostry on Saturday night as part of this year's Hostry Festival.
Norfolk Arts Award founder Peter Beck said: 'I am quite humbled by the amount of hard work that artists and arts organisations do for different communities in Norfolk, which was really demonstrated by all the different films about all our nominees shown at this year's awards.
'It's just wonderful to be able to say in some small way, that their work is really appreciated and to celebrate them.'
Stash Kirkbride, the Hostry Festival's artistic director, also said a big congratulations to all the night's winners and finalists, and paid tribute to all the people involved in sponsoring and organising the awards.
Artist H.J.Jackson received the Lifetime Contribution to the Arts Award, sponsored by the Maddermarket Theatre, in honour of his 60 year career in print-making, while young musician Lily-Ann Reeve was the winner of the Peter Barrow Bursary Award for Best Newcomer.
There were three EDP People's Choice Awards this year, voted for by the public in an online vote, and these awards went to arts press and communications expert Steve Forster (individual award), Holt Festival (small organisation award), and Norwich-based open access choir The Voice Project (large organisation award).
The other awards of night spanned everything from theatre to fashion to new writing.
The awards ceremony audience was also treated to a mix of musical entertainment and also performances by Total Ensemble Theatre Company.

THE 2013 NORFOLK ARTS AWARDS WINNERS
• The Lifetime Contribution to the Arts Award sponsored by The Maddermarket Theatre
H.J.Jackson's career in linocut prints spans 60 years, and a lot of his distinctive linocut prints focus on the theme of fishing boats and fishermen on the Norfolk coast. Mr Jackson was also chairman of Norwich Print Fair for many years. He is a senior fellow of the Royal Society of Painter Printmakers and a member of the Society of Wood Engravers.
• The Peter Barrow Bursary Award for Best Newcomer
Lily-Ann Reeve was spotted by the Norfolk Arts Awards judges performing Someone Like You by Adele with Lee Vasey at the Surlingham Ferry.
Hostry Festival artistic director Stash Kirkbride said: 'She was incredible, so natural and talented. She just seemed a very genuine young artist.'
At the Arts Awards, Lily-Ann performed Someone Like You with Lee Vasey and also appeared in the performances by Total Ensemble Theatre Company.
• The EDP People's Choice Award - Best Independent/Solo Arts Practitioner
Steve Forster is a Norwich-based press and communications expert in the arts and runs SFP Communications. Has developed regional and national press stories for the Norfolk and Norwich Festival, Holt Festival, The Neutrinos, The Voice Project and East to Edinburgh (a scheme for performers from the east of England to tour their work to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival).
• The EDP People's Choice Award - Best Small Venue/Festival/Organisation/Group/Production
Holt Festival is a celebration of the arts that takes place in July each year. The 2013 festival line-up included Germaine Greer, The Proclaimers, John Major, John Hegley, EnsembleBash, Goddard Nixon Dance, Ayanna, The Britten Sinfonia and the Rhodes Piano Trio.
• The EDP People's Choice Award - Best Large Venues/Festivals/Organisations/Groups/Performances
The Voice Project is a Norwich-based open access choir led by Sian Croose and Jon Baker. The choir has performed with thousands of singers from across Norwich and beyond in a range of interesting settings and regularly performs as part of The Norfolk and Norwich Festival.
• The Theatre Award
Norwich Theatre Royal's 2012 pantomime Aladdin was created and produced in house and sold more than 50,000 tickets. It was written and directed by Richard Gauntlett, who also played the panto dame, and the cast included Graham Cole, Andre Vincent, Lucy Dixon and Zoe Clarke.
• The Dance and Musical Theatre Award sponsored by Porselli Dancewear
Tally Watt started dancing at the age of three at Anglian Region Theatre School and she has achieved a number of prestigious opportunities through her talent for dancing, including being offered a place at Dance East in 2010, a place on The Royal Ballet School Mid Associate programme in 2011, and training at the Royal Ballet Junior School White Lodge in 2012. This year Tally was offered a scholarship at Tring Park School for Performing Arts. She has also appeared in Royal Ballet productions and at The Royal Opera House.
• The Music Award
Sharon Andrea Choa is the conductor of Chamber Orchestra Anglia and director of music and senior lecturer at the University of East Anglia. She has recently produced concerts in the Norwich 12 buildings, and she conducted the Chamber Orchestra Anglia on Friday in a Hostry Festival concert.
• The Visual Arts Award sponsored by Stew Gallery and Studios
Elena Italia is a Norwich-based performance artist who studied at Norwich University of the Arts and who works in the field of live art. She is the producer of Borderline, a new performance art event for Norwich which 'aims to promote challenging contemporary performance art from the region and beyond, encourage international collaborations.'
• Education and Community Award
Norwich-based Eastern Region Media Community Interest Company (ERM) is run by Fiona Muller and Tim Edwards, who are both creative practitioners with experience of Arts Council, County Council and schools projects. They provide workshops and creative learning in a range of media and give opportunities to communities in the east of England.
• The Broadcast and Press Award, sponsored by Newsmakers PR
The Eastern Daily Press and Norwich Evening News publishes listings magazine Event each week. The magazine tells readers about the vast array of entertainment and arts events taking place across the county through listings and articles.
• The Sevenwolves Fashion and Costume Design Awards
Norwich University of the Arts' BA and MA fashion courses are taught by fashion designer Betty Jackson and course leader and fashion designer Sue Chowles. The BA course balances its focus between creativity and the development of the technical skills needed for the fashion industry. The MA course encourages students to master traditional and couture skills while also developing innovative, conceptual designs.

• The Jarrold New Writing Award
Into the Light – The Medieval Hebrew Poetry of Meir of Norwich has been translated by Ellman Crasnow and Bente Elsworth with an introduction by Keiron Pim. It is published by East Publishing in association with Writers' Centre Norwich and the UNESCO Creative Cities Network.
• The Hy Kurzner Arts Entrepreneur Award sponsored by Valerie Kurzner
Norwich Jazz Club was established in 1989 and features the finest local, national and international jazz artists in the city.
The club is resident at the Cottage Public House and Epic Studios in Norwich. Run by Barbara and Mike Capocci until 2010, the club is now under the directorship of drummer Brian McAllister. Visiting solo artists are accompanied by the house trio - Simon Brown on piano, Ivars Galenieks on bass, and Brian McAllister on drums.
• The Theatre Education Award sponsored by Norwich Theatre Royal
Seachange Arts, based in Great Yarmouth, offers training and education programmes to people of all ages in the areas of circus, street and outdoor arts, and theatre. Seachange Arts produces the Out There International Festival of Circus and Street Arts each year where this work can be seen. It also encourages international companies to visit Great Yarmouth and offers specialist classes and projects to the local community.
