It makes Jedi Knight the third most popular 'religion' in Norfolk and Suffolk - behind Christianity and Islam.

According to the 2011 census, 7,748 residents of Norfolk, Suffolk and Cambridgeshire follow the light side of 'the force', as one of the newest registered religions.

The Jedi census phenomenon began back in 2001 with a grassroots movement which urged people to record their religion as Jedi or Jedi Knight in an attempt to create an official religion from the Star Wars phenomenon.

Groups have now sprung up globally, including hotspots of 783 in Norwich, 669 in Huntingdonshire, and 440 in Ipswich.

Overall Norfolk boasts more followers of the force than neighbouring counties Suffolk and Cambridgeshire, with 3,052, 2,300 and 2,396 respectively.
