Almost 600 has been raised for the Community Sports Foundation by a group of staff from the Sainsbury's supermarket in Queens Road, Norwich.

Some of the staff walked 10 miles and some cycled 20 miles on the Bure Valley walk, between Wroxham and Aylsham. They were all sponsored individually and have raised almost 600 between them and they are hoping to raise more with the help of Sainsbury's Local Heroes scheme,

The money raised will go towards the Community Sports Foundation's (CSF) Sporting Life Appeal which will use the money to help CSF deliver services for disadvantaged and disabled people.

Steve Brand, the store's dry goods manager, who organised the event, said: 'The weather was very bad on the day it was rainy and windy but all the colleagues turned up as planned. It made it very hard work for the colleagues that biked and walked, but we had a great day and all felt a great sense of achievement.' Store manager, Mike Green, added: 'It was a great thing for the colleagues to do.

'They really do make a difference in the community and we are very proud of them all.'
