Sheringham lifeboat went to the aid of two swimmers yesterday morning.
The swimmers were thought to be in trouble approximately 200 metres seaward of the shelter on the east promenade, known locally as the ''tank' at Sheringham.
The tide was in full flood with a 15-knot westerly wind generating a 1.5m swell.
A concerned member of the public had alerted a deputy launching authority member of Sheringham lifeboat who contacted the Humber Coastguard.
The lifeboat was launched at 10.15am and escorted the swimmers back safely to shore.
