Seven people have been charged in connection with a violent disturbance in Lowestoft which left a 47-year-old man with critical head injuries. The victim suffered a fractured eye socket, a broken jaw and needed more than 20 staples in his head after the altercation on Royal Plain on June 29.

Seven people have been charged in connection with a violent disturbance in Lowestoft which left a 47-year-old man with critical head injuries.

The victim suffered a fractured eye socket, a broken jaw and needed more than 20 staples in his head after the altercation on Royal Plain on June 29.

He was taken to the James Paget University Hospital, Gorleston, with neck and head pains and was later transferred to Addenbrooke's Hospital, Cambridge, in a critical condition.

He was discharged after surgery, and is now recovering at home.

Seven people were subsequently arrested and charged. Jed Cox, 28, of Elm Tree Road, Lowestoft, and 19-year-old Ryan McKenna, of Windsor Terrace, Kessingland, were charged with causing grievous bodily harm and affray.

The other five, all from the Lowestoft area, are 19-year-old Sam Adams, of Denmark Road; 21-year-old Blaine Dutton, of Seago Street; 22-year-old Alistair McKenna, of Windsor Terrace, Kessingland; 23-year-old Steven Dutton, of Seago Street; and 22-year-old Laura Cox, of Northfield Close, Oulton.

They have all been charged with affray.

Six of the seven are due to appear at Lowestoft Magistrates' Court on Tuesday. Laura Cox is due to appear next Friday.
