The hole is on the left-hand lane of the A11 northbound at Besthorpe and Highways England have been called to repair the damaged surface.

The right-hand lane remains open but police are asking people to drive through the area safely and slowly.

A police officer at the scene said: 'It's a seriously deep hole and for anyone on a motorbike it would not end well. Highways have been called to fix it.'
