A supermarket in Thorpe St Andrew has raised £3,821 for Sport Relief.

Staff at the Sainsbury's store on Pound Lane held a variety of fundraising activities in the weeks leading up to the main event on March 23.

They organised a darts tournament, pool tournament and a quiz and chips evening to raise funds. Customers also donated money to the cause.

Jason Symonds, store manager, said: 'Sport Relief is a fantastic opportunity for us to come together with the local community to raise as much money as possible for a great cause.

'I'm really proud that our store has been able to contribute to the impressive figure donated from Sainsbury's to comic relief and we'd like to thank our colleagues and customers for their support.'

The store also gave away a large amount of surplus sport relief merchandise to Brundall Primary School, Sutton CE V.C Infant School and Hall School, Old Catton.
