A play that was inspired by the north Norfolk seaside resort of Sheringham will be playing at the town’s Little Theatre early next month.

James McDermott’s play Rubber Ring, which was a big hit at the Edinburgh Festival and last year’s Holt Festival, has been rolled-out across Norfolk.

Weybourne-born James McDermott wrote Rubber Ring about a working-class Morrissey-obsessed teenager growing up in rural Norfolk.

He said: “I’ll be performing the play in the town that inspired it and features in it.

“I wrote Rubber Ring to better understand East Anglian life and by touring it around the region I hope to help others feel less invisible.”

His parents own the vintage clothes shop, Worn Out in Sheringham.

As reported, the play has been optioned by the TV production company behind Father Ted and Outnumbered.
