The Duke of Kent, president of King's Lynn Festival, attended Thursday evening's estival concert by the Navarra String Quartet in St George's Guildhall.
The occasion was the Ruth Fermoy Memorial Concert in memory of the festival's founder and was sponsored by Mary Roche, daughter of Lady Fermoy, and by Festival Private Patrons.
The quartet was formed in 2002 at the Royal Northern College of Music by students from England and the Netherlands. They have an international reputation as one of the most dynamic string quartets of today.
Festival chairman Alison Croose said: 'We were delighted to welcome the Duke who clearly shared the appreciation of the whole audience in a memorable performance of music by Mozart, Borodin and Schubert.'
Borough Mayor and Mayoress Barry and Christine Ayres welcomed the Duke on his arrival.
