Rod Stewart fans are in for a treat this weekend as the star returns to Carrow Road after a five year wait.

The 73-year-old singer, best known for hits such as Maggie May and Sailing, is to perform at the stadium on Saturday.

It comes after he promised thousands of fans at the city's football ground back in 2011 that he would return.

Canaries commercial director Ben Kensell said: 'We're delighted that Rod Stewart will be returning to Carrow Road for another concert following his hugely successful performance here in 2011.

'It's another great opportunity for his many thousands of fans in the region to enjoy the performance of this British music legend.'

Stewart, who rose to fame in the bands The Jeff Beck Group and The Faces, is not the only major name to have performed at the stadium in recent years.

Elton John entertained thousands of fans in 2005, followed by George Michael in 2007.

His latest performance in Norwich is part of an eight-date UK fully-steaded outdoor stadium tour.

Organisers were unable to reveal how many tickets had been sold for the event.

They are priced at £55, £75 and £95 plus special VIP packages are available from www.ticketline.co.uk
