Villagers in Mundford, near Thetford, were left without power this morning after a combine harvester brought down power lines in Ickburgh.

Villagers in Mundford, near Thetford, were left without power this morning after a combine harvester brought down power lines in Ickburgh.

Half of the village, which is 10 miles north of Thetford, was without power between 10.30am to midday.

More than 1,000 properties were affected with one business reporting that its power had continued to flicker on and off after the initial power was brought back on.

Although power was quickly restored to most of the properties, nine remain without power.

A spokesman for UK Power Networks said: 'UK Power Networks engineers are working quickly and safely to restore power to nine properties after a combine harvester hit a pole and brought down an overhead cable in Ashburton Road, Ickburgh, at 10.30am today.

'Approximately, 1,100 were affected initially - all bar 290 were back on within 10 minutes.

'281 had their power restored after 75 minutes. The power was restored to the remaining nine properties at 2.07pm.'
