Snakes, lizards, two owls, two tortoises and a kitten were among some of the unusual guests to pay a visit to residents at a Colney nursing home.

Lowestoft-based mobile zoo Zootastic went to Bupa Oakwood House Nursing Home in Old Watton Road yesterday afternoon where residents enjoyed meeting the animals. Some pupils from Little Melton First School also went along to Oakwood House to join in with the fun.

Edwina Wingham, senior activities co-ordinator at Oakwood House, said: 'The visit went really well. The residents loved seeing the animals and the children did too.

'The children carried a lot of the animals over to the residents to show them and they also talked a lot about their own pets.

'It was really nice, a really social, happy afternoon.

'Everyone loved the animals, especially the 10-week-old kitten.'
