She and a carnival prince were chosen at this afternoon's final selection event for those who will represent the town at this year's festivities.

The last two members of the royal family are Phoebe Muirhead, 11, of Connaught Road, Cromer, and Max Barron, 10, of the town's Suffield Park.

They were chosen from a bumper entry of 32 girls and eight boys who turned up dressed in their best to smile for the judges in Cromer Community Centre.

Phoebe, a pupil Cromer Academy and a swimmer with North Norfolk Vikings, is the older sister of last year's princess, Hannah Muirhead, eight.

Max, who attends The Belfry School, at Overstrand, plays football for Cromer Youth Football Club. He also belongs to the Salvation Army brass band in Norwich, where he plays baritone.

Their selection follows Friday night's competition to find junior attendants.

It was won by 16-year-old students Roisin Finnegan and Rebecca Morgan who were chosen from 18 hopefuls at the town's Cottage pub.

Roisin, from Connaught Road, is studying at Paston College including photography and film-making which has seen her shooting a fantasy movie called The Seeker around the streets of her home town.

Rebecca, from Blackberry Grove, is at Cromer Academy and is a young leader with the 1st Rural Scouts at Roughton Mill.

The pair were chosen by a trio of judges - Gail Green from the King's Head pub, Tracey Bartlett from Hair Studio One, and EDP and North Norfolk News community editor Richard Batson.

The junior attendants join Miss Cromer Charlotte Crane, and senior attendants Sophie Bernard-Smith and Danielle Dawson.
