Greater Anglia says trains should be back to normal by 12 noon today following power line problems affecting services between Norwich and London Liverpool Street this morning (Thursday).

The 7am service from London had to be rescued by another locomotive from just outside the city after the power to the train was cut. It led to further delays for services in both directions between Norwich and London Liverpool Street as Network Rail engineers work to repair the electrical fault.

Peter Meades, Greater Anglia spokesman, said the work was now completed and trains were once again able to travel between Norwich and Diss, where the problem was.

He said the service's normal timetable should be back on track by about 12 noon.

Greater Anglia's other services, including those between Norwich and Cambridge, were not affected.
