Police are appealing for information after an 86-year-old woman died on a bus in Lowestoft yesterday afternoon.

Officers were contacted by the fire service just after 2.25pm after a report that the woman had collapsed and died on a 108 bus at Dell Road.

Fire and ambulance crews attended the scene alongside police and the road was closed.

The driver of the bus reported the woman had been found in the foot well and police say it is unclear as to whether she fell or if she died from natural causes.

The death is being treated as unexplained.

Police are keen to speak to anyone who was on the bus during its journey.

The bus was the 108 departing from the bus station at 1:30pm on circular service around the town.

Anyone with information should contact PC Andrew Smith at the Serious Collision Investigation Team at Suffolk Police on 101.

The 108 goes in a loop from Lowestoft bus station through Oulton Broad. The service is operated by Nightingales of Beccles.
