Organisers of the first Swaffham Free Festival have appealed for donations and sponsorship to help make it an annual event.

The six-hour concert took over the town's market place on Sunday afternoon and evening, with visitors enjoying music from the likes of Midnight Circus, Dave!!! and Swaffham youth bands Beyond Illusion and Masters of Insanity.

This year's event was funded by the Rural Development Programme for England, with grants from John Lewis's Music Matters programme and Breckland Council.

Organisers reviewed the event this morning, and hope to make the 2013 celebration a two-day affair, with the Saturday devoted to acoustic and folk music, funding permitting.

Event manager Kate Francis said: 'Thanks to the efforts of many volunteers, performers and partner organisations we met our objective of hosting a family-friendly music event that was safe and enjoyable.

'The audience feedback was tremendously positive and I am delighted to announce that plans are being made for another free festival in the town next year.'

Organisers are seeking donations and sponsorship to secure next year's festival. Text donations can be made to 70070 quoting SWFF12, e.g. SWFF12 5.
