The promise dualling the A11 holds is a well-told tale.

From boosting tourism to hailing the area open for business, the 9.1 miles are vital to allow Norfolk and Suffolk to thrive.

And now these fascinating photographs, taken from the air, show what the stretch between Barton Mills and Thetford looks like near to completion.

Photographer Steve Adams took to the skies with Saxon Air Helicopters to show drivers the soon-to-be-fully opened £102m road.

The dualling of the A11 is the culmination of a 30-year campaign.

Work started in January 2013 and although the deadline for completion has shifted, it is due to open on Friday.

See Friday's paper for a special supplement on the final piece of the A11 dualing.
