Firefighters had to free someone from their vehicle after a crash on the A47 at Costessey this morning.

The accident happened on the westbound road, near the turnoff for the Norfolk Showground, just before 9am.

Fire crews from Carrow, Earlham and Sprowston went to the scene and released one person from a black Ford Fiesta which had crashed into the central reservation, using hydraulic rescue equipment.

Norfolk police said the casualty was reported to have suffered slight injuries and the road was re-opened at 10.20am.
