People in a Breckland market town are being asked their opinions on a vision to create a multi-purpose community building.
Watton Town Council wants to build a state-of-the-art centre which would incorporate the council chamber - moved from Wayland Hall - sports facilities and rooms for local community groups.
Currently, many local organisations use rooms at the Charlotte Harvey Trust building to meet. The authority hopes to move these groups into the new development - if it goes ahead - and are looking into options for what the charity's building could be used for.
The new energy efficient building would be an extension to the current sports centre and would increase and improve the town's sporting facilities. Currently the council are in the research stage and want to find out residents' thoughts and if they feel it would be beneficial to the town.
Town mayor Stan Hebborn said: 'Before we commit public money we want to know that we are doing the right thing for the town and the community.
'We are still very much in the planning of this. One thing we are certain of is as our community grows we have to grow with it.
'With the Charlotte Harvey Trust we are still looking at all the different options of how we could use it the maximum benefit to the community.'
The building would have a cafe, meeting and conference areas, easy access for those with mobility issues and could be used for weddings.
'I think it will bring more facilities to those who live here and bring people in to use the better sport and leisure facilities,' said Mr Hebborn.
'Watton has a lot to offer the community and this is for them and we want their involvement.'
He added: 'We are looking at what we can do before we do it. We don't want to start something until we know we can achieve it.'
If the proposal receives support the town the council will start looking into designs and securing funds.
