A brand new cycling centre, workshop and store is opening in Kings Lynn.

Hunstanton based cycle business Fatbirds has merged with the independent bike retailer Pedal Revolution.

The result is a brand new 3,000 sq ft store on Edward Benefer Way that offers more than 180 bikes ranging from children's bikes through day-to-day commuters to sports and recreational bikes for all ages and abilities.

Prices range from a £150 three-year-old child's bike to a £15,000 titanium machine. Associate director Peter Flett admitted the machine was one for the 'addicted connoisseur'.

'It's made by an ex Tour De France rider,' he said. 'You're flown to Italy where he will size you up for it and he'll then take you riding with him through the Dolomites.'

Mr Flett said he hoped the new store would become a centre for the booming sport, which people could drive to before setting off on rides through the surrounding countryside.

'What's lovely about cycling is it's all inclusive,' he said. 'It's for all ages, all abilities, there's something for everybody.'

Pedal Revolution says it wants to inspire and enable local people to get active and enjoy the sport.

'Our vision is to engage, inspire and enable local people to get out on their bikes and enjoy the fantastic lanes and countryside in our part of the country.' said director Neil Turner.

'Cycling is such a family and socially inclusive activity that can be enjoyed whatever your age and current activity level and we would love to contribute to making Kings Lynn a haven for cyclists not just locally but from around the region.'

The store will be holding rides for beginners and regulars at its formal launch party from 10am on Saturday and 9.30am on Sunday.

For younger riders, there will be running free children and youth coaching and riding sessions on our life-size Scalextric-like mountain bike track outside the store.

The new store also has a workshop offering services from punctures to full annual services plus a valeting service where technicians clean, lubricate and tune-up your machine.

It plans to open a cycling fitness studio on the site next month.
