A Lowestoft Town supporter who was a well known sight and sound around non-league grounds across the country has died.
Dave 'The Drummer' Ainslie died on Tuesday aged 61 from prostate cancer.
The former soldier and Birds Eye factory worker acquired his nickname as he proudly used to beat a drum at the Trawler Boys' home ground Crown Meadow and at away matches to show his support for the team, which because of his cancer he had not been able to see for a while.
Mr Ainslie, a father of four and who moved to Lowestoft in 1974, was famously barred from taking his drum into the FA Vase final at Wembley in May 2008 when the Lowestoft Town played Kirkham and Wesham.
Despite not having his drum Mr Ainslie bellowed his support for the Trawler Boys who lost 2-1.
Mr Ainslie married his wife Jacqui in 1974 and they had four children Darryl, Richard, Alun and Bim.
He worked in quality assurance at the Co-op in Lowestoft before moving in the same role to Birds Eye.
